Auditions
- Directors hold auditions prior to casting; dates/times are agreed at Prod. Comm. and displayed on Facebook, Instagram, and Members' News. It’s your responsibility to ensure this happens. Public posts also go on the theatre’s Facebook page.
- Notices should indicate sensitive or intimate content, playing ages, gender specifics, and any initial stylistic approach (e.g., traditional vs modernised Shakespeare).
- Membership requirement: All auditionees must be current members to be cast. Provisional members must pay the full membership fee. The same rule applies to tech teams.
- If non-members attend, they must sign up. Contact New Members in advance if you expect non-members to audition.
- Directors decide audition format (individual reads, workshop, etc.) and make it clear in the notice. If you want to share scripts in advance, talk to Prod. Comm.
- You may invite members to audition, but must not offer parts in advance without Prod. Comm.’s explicit permission. Pre-cast roles must be clearly stated in the audition notice.
- No member is required to audition to be cast; directors may request casting cards to be sent to members who didn’t audition or express interest.
